Why are so many people convinced that babies are trying to manipulate them? They’re babies. They literally don’t know how to do anything except suck and scream and be confused. They’re not “manipulating” you. They’re experiencing extreme back pain.
Did you know that? That babies get back pain? They can grow over an inch in one day. Their bones are stretching and it hurts a lot and they don’t know why. Give them a break.
Also, people get so mad at toddlers for being upset. The toddlers are the ones who have never been angry before and are learning how to deal with it. You’re the adult who has had decades to learn how to deal with your emotions. Do you expect someone to know how to play piano on day one with no training? No? Then why do you expect the same thing with the entirety of how to be a human? You only think that walking is easy because you’ve been doing it for decades.
If you can’t deal with your emotions about what a freaking toddler is doing around you to the point where you feel that you have to beat them or scream at them, maybe you’re the one who needs to go back to preschool so you can be taught how to use your words.
Domestic science/home economics are such important fields to be taught in school. Everyone should know food safety, how to cook basic meals, do basic mending to clothing, budget a household, do laundry + understand clothing tags, clean a house etc. It is such an important foundation for life and something many kids never get and that’s not their fault. So many young adults move out on their own and have no clue how to take care of themselves because they were never taught how. I honestly believe it needs to be a core class for all students and especially male students.
My elderly father started talking about how frustrating he finds “the pronouns thing” and I was like. Oh no. He had such a good stand on this, he’s been they/them-ing his cishet siblings for god’s sake! Is he regressing?? And he was talking about how difficult it is to remember, and how onerous it feels to expect strangers to keep track of it, and I’m like oh no oh no.
Then he says, “I mean, the problem isn’t the gender thing. The problem is four words: she, her, he, and him. We got rid of stewardess and turned it into flight attendant. It doesn’t matter if the flight attendant is a man or woman, so we got rid of it. We just need to get rid of those. I don’t need to know.”
“You don’t need to know… people’s gender?”
“No. I don’t care, I don’t need to know, and I don’t want to remember it.”
So we can relax. It’s just a continuation of his crusade to they/them the world. He doesn’t want to remember anyone’s gender. He’s abolishing the genders.
If you want the internet to stop censoring queer content, FOSTA-SESTA has to go.
If you want tumblr and other websites to have porn again, FOSTA-SESTA has to go.
If you want algospeak to stop being the norm, FOSTA-SESTA HAS TO GO.
There is NOTHING that tumblr staff can do without this law being gone.
There is NOTHING that any moderator, website, or app can do without Net Neutrality being reinstated and iron-clad again.
Did you all forget what caused the porn ban in the first place? It was not a random decision every company made overnight.
It was FOSTA-SESTA.
Freedom of speech is called Net Neutrality online, and until 2018, Net Neutrality was sacrosanct.
We must have Net Neutrality back if we are to have the freedom to speak online.
If you are queer, you must fight for Net Neutrality. If you have opinions about anything, you must fight for your right to say them. FOSTA-SESTA TOOK THAT FROM YOU. TOOK IT FROM US ALL.
If you want things to change, don’t whine to staff on tumblr, don’t boycott Tiktok.
you must get political. you must organise to remove FOSTA-SESTA from the books. You must clamour, and holler, and write your politicians and raise up the voices of sex workers and VOTE to protect your free speech.
Pornography and sex work are inextricable from freedom of speech. The right of pornography and sex work to exist is inextricable from the rights of queer folks. If you do not fight to protect your right to ‘dirty books’ and uphold 'rule 34’ they will come after YOU next. They already are coming after queers just like they always do when a ban on porn is involved! It will escalate until it comes after EVERYONE.
I cannot emphasise enough that all this censorship increasing since 2018 is connected to the porn ban. It is the same oppressive and harmful legislation causing it.
